E-mail Tracking Data In GoldMine

Campaign Tracking Actions

Campaign results can be tracked in 2 ways :

  1. Create history records for e-mails sent out for a compaign.
  2. Create detail records to track open and click activities for a campaign.

The actions can be found in the “Campaign Info” tab within the Actions menu.

Create GoldMine E-mail Sent History

This action will create a new history record in GoldMine for each of the e-mail addresses which were sent out with the MailChimp campaign.  History records are only created once in GoldMine , regardless how many times this action is executed for a campaign.

The following image shows the preview of a history record created for a campaign.  The link in the ”
Campaign Email” allows GoldMine users to view a copy of the e-mail that was sent out to the recipient.

Create GoldMine Detail History

This action will create a detail record for each e-mail recipient.  The detail record contains tracking data such as last open date, last click date, last link clicked, and who received the e-mail message.

A new tab named ‘MailChimp Track’ is created and all details tracking history records are available within this tab.

Run this action to update the open and  click tracking data for each recipient.

Modify default field delimiter setting

Updating Default Field Delimiters

There are errors that can be caused by some data that is unexpected by the application.  One of those cases is when data contains a comma and MailChimp Connect is using the default field delimiter which is also a comma character.

This scenario can result to an error similiar to the following:

“System.ArgumentException: Input array is longer than the number of columns in this table.”

To resolve this issue, simply go to the Additonal Options.

Select one of the available options which will replace the default field delimiter.  For example, click on the button labeled “tab” then click “Save”.

Run the same process which triggered the error to verify if it corrected the issue.

Unsubscribe and Bounceback Actions

DBX MailChimp Connect provides a set of processing options for both unsubscribe and bounceback email addresses.  Access to these options are available in the Unsubscribe and Bounceback tabs.

Create Contact Group

This action allows users to create or update existing contact groups.  Contact records matching any of the bounceback or unsubscribe email addresses will be added to the contact group.

Delete E-mail Addresses

This action allows users to delete unsubscribe or bounceback email address which are found in GoldMine.

Export E-mail Addresses

This action allows users to save the list of bounceback or unsubscribe email addresses to a text file.

Update E-mail Merge Code

This action allows users to update the merge code for matching e-mail addresses.

Update MailChimp List

Updating a campaign list with DBX MailChimp Connect is easy.  From the mail toolbar menu, click on “Update List”.

Specify List Name To Be Updated – click on the “Lookup” button to select an existing MailChimp campaign list.

Send an Option Opt-In e-mail message to e-mail address – Check this box if you want the e-mail address that will be added to the list to first opt-in to the list before they get added to the list.

Select GoldMine Contact Group – Pick which contact group which includes the contact records with the email addresses which will be added to the MailChimp Campaign list.

Select E-mail Address Types From Contacts – Check the appropriate box depending on what type of email address to add to the campaign list.  Optionally, provide merge codes (separted by a comma) to limit the set of e-mail addresses.

Excluding E-mail Addresses From the List – Some contacts in the group can have multiple e-mail addresses and some of them could be flagged for unsubscribe.  To avoid updating your MailChimp list with unsubscribed e-mail addresses, make sure to select the option “Exclude E-mail Addresses…” and specify the e-mail merge codes to flag an e-mail address in GoldMine as “unsubscribed”.  The merge code should be separated by a comma if there are multiple e-mail merge codes.

Select Merge Fields for list – Only the e-mail address and contact name is uploaded to your MailChimp list.  If you need some GoldMine field data to be added to your MailChimp list, simply pick the fields from the “Merge Field Selection” tab.  MailChimp limits the maximum number of merge fields (merge vars) to 30.
