Once the application has been successfully configured, the application can be activated by registering the application.
To register the application, select the “Register Product” option under the “Options” toolbar menu.
Make sure to select “Main DBX Module” to register the main application. The licensed machine name will be shown in the “Licensed Computer Name” textbox. Make sure that you are registering the application against the correct system.
All fields in the registration form are required. Users who purchased the license directly from the website will get an email with the registration code. Users who purchased a license from one of our Partners should get the registration from the reseller.
Close DBX Data Management after registering and re-open it to complete the license provisioning process.
The first time that the DBX Data Management application is run, the system configuration tool will automatically open to setup the applications. This will configure the applications connection to the GoldMine system and to the SQL server that will host the applications configuration database.
*This configuration tool is also available from the “Options” menu.
Read the instructions on the first page of the configuration tool. It is important that all the required information asked for in the first page of the wizard is identified.
Select the appropriate option as to which SQL server instance will be used to create the DBX Data Management configuration database. You may host the DBX databases into the same SQL server where your GoldMine database are currently located. The ideal location would be a separate SQL server (ie. SQL Express) to make sure that the it does not compete with resources needed by the GoldMine CRM system.
Specify the location of your GoldMine installation. If GoldMine is installed on a network location, make sure that the path reflects the UNC path and not the mapped path. This is important for environments where the DBX Service Runner will be used to schedule and execute processes.
The GoldMine username should be a user with master rights to make sure that the application will be able to write to GoldMine. The SQL login info should be the same SQL login used by GoldMine.
The configuration tool will procede with the creation of the configuration table and save all settings defined in the form into the configuration database.
Once the process is completed, a dialog will show up stating that the update is completed – simply click OK to complete the configuration process.
There are systems where you might get a GoldMine api error -4 while setting up the GoldMine settings.
The error can be due to several reasons:
- There are multiple instances of gm7s32.dll in the system. Search for the file and make sure that the only copy is in the GoldMine directory.
- If there are no duplicate gm7s32.dll file, other than the one in the goldmine directory, copy the gm7s32.dll into the DBX folder and see that resolves the issue. If not, remove the gm7s32.dll from the dbx install folder.
Download the installation file for DBX Data Management. Download file now. The system requirements are specified on the download page.
The SQL server used by your GoldMine CRM installation can be used provided that the SQL license that you are using allows multiple applications to host databases on the same SQL server instance. The recommended setup is to have an installation of the free SQL Express Server which can be used by DBX Data Management. Download SQL Express
Make sure .Net 4.5.2 framework is installed on the system where the product will be installed into. Download .net framework
Install DBX Data Management to any folder location of your choice, or simply install to the default install location.
